What is 3X3 basketball?

3X3 basketball is a variation of basketball played three a side on one hoop. It is the largest urban team sport of the world. This basketball discipline is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, the sport’s governing body. Its main competition is an annual FIBA 3X3 World Tour. 3X3 basketball was also featured in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Why should I play 3X3 basketball?

This particular form of basketball is all about one thing – scoring (well, defense too). If you are the type of person who is up to the challenge of breaking down your defender in the half-court, or maybe you want to sharpen up your individual offense and lock-down defense for the upcoming season, then this is the type of basketball you need to be playing.

Is there a future in 3X3 basketball?

The main competition is an annual 3X3 World Tour, comprising a series of Masters and one Final tournament awarding six-figure prize money! The FIBA 3X3 World Cup for men and women are the highest tournaments for national 3X3 teams. Can you see yourself as a professional 3X3 player in the future?

Check out the official FIBA 3×3 website for more info!

Westshore Basketball is excited to launch our inaugural Summer Jam Outdoor tournament at the Juan de Fuca Courts. This idea began earlier this year, and has evolved into a vision for an annual rotating season and tournament, held at various locations throughout Greater Victoria and hosted by different clubs each year. “Streetball” can and should play an integral part in the development and creativity of young basketball players. Our aim is to foster growth and interest in organized outdoor basketball once again. Get off your phones, and back to the courts!

Summer Jam will feature DJ PTK to play music and engage the fans, and promises to be be an action packed day that you won’t want to miss! If successful, we hope for this event to expand into an annual summer league, with multiple programs fielding teams each year for a short season followed by a weekend playoff tournament.

Help us launch the event in style! Registration is only $20, so don’t delay! Register today!
